Happy Thanksgiving to you and your'n, Fin'. If I had my way, venison and squirrel would supply my table. But Thanksgiving doesn't hinder 'greenhorn finicky-ness'. And I don't want to be dragged out of the house and hung on my own skinnin' tree! (The big mulberry outside the kitchen window).

Anyhow, I'll be grateful for a tame turkey the president didn't pardon . . .

Happy thanksgiving to all of you, and Mr. Fiddlesticks, you can have squirrel heads and dumplins tomorrow. Tamp 'em down with a slab of deer meat.

Scoundrel, I hear you on the squirrel heads 'n' dumplins. Squirrel brains are the first potted meat - haw! When I get my deering done I'll get after some dumplin' fixins. I've a nephew, not too far removed from the streets, who's taken to flintlocks like a beaver to a willer tree. I'll get him out there with my smoothbores.
