We are certainly trying to punch up the fire. We need folks to participate and provide stories and input. I am certain that with the amount of graybeards around here there are plenty of tall tales and hunting stories to relate.

Since the forum started over circa 2012, most all of the old stories were lost. You long term members can re-tell your older stories and experiences Big Grin

Good luck with that Danl. I tried some time ago, but with zero results. it is a shame because this used to be my favorite forum.
Now, I have mainly wandered away and seldom ramble back here.

I've completely dropped out of two different modern hunting forums in disgust due to differences in opinions on exactly what constitutes "hunting", and ethics, couple that with what I consider just plain old ignorance and bad manners.

I have been a frequent visitor to another traditional muzzleloader forum. I like it over there, but even there I find it to be a tremendous time waster. So, I'm trying to limit my time there. I have too many chores and projects going on. I get more done in a day when I stay off the Internet. Bad weather days when I'm stuck in the house with little else to do - okay.

Bad storms here last night. I'm heading out soon to go up on the mountain where a friend has a cabin. Several trees came down across her driveway. I'll bring my chainsaw and join another guy to clear her long driveway. Afterwards I'll go to inspect my deer/pig blind that is on her property and probably have some more clearing out work to do.

The property owner has complained about wild pigs rooting up her horse pasture. Since Tennessee allows the taking of feral hogs on private property at any time of the year, I am hoping to get a hog on her property later this month.
Then, in April begins the spring turkey season. Smiler

Cheers

See what I mean, Danl?
Three days and 82 views, but only my one response.
I don't understand it. Why is everyone remaining silent?

Hi Rancoscas.

This forum has always been one of the more enjoyable forums out there. There is no arguing or tussling. There are some great stories to be found here if one looks around a bit.

We have a great forum gunsmith (Hoot AL) that can answer most any muzzleloading building question. Always good information shared when a question is asked.

Folks just seem to like to read but not participate. Join in folks! Tell us your interests and any tall tales or hunting stories.

Wanting some good stories,
DanL

Check Tall Tales Smiler

The forest is a wilderness only to those that fear it, silent only to those that hear nothing. The forest is a friend to those that dwell within its' nature and it is filled with the sounds of life to those that listen.

Well shucks, I also am trying to spend less time on the confuser, not that it works Too much stuff to do around the house and yard, and then there are mandatory naps in between! But I'll try to get some lies in here when I can....

Well, not to whinge, but I really don't have much to contribute besides my appreciation for all the cool toys, and stories you guys have. Right after I spent a huge (for me) amount of moola for a cool replica of a .69 Charleville flinter, I managed to screw up my shoulder. Then I found out that the Holy Black is harder to find than hens' teeth in my area, so I'll just have to read and enjoy the life vicariously.

I try and drop by periodically to read AND to post some sort of crap just to stay active. NOW! If you all agree to put away your pitchforks and lighted tapers I do have a few stories I'll post later on. Actually I have a million stories and have a bit of fame err, should say notoriousness, along that line.

Have you tried getting it on line? I bought mine from Maine Powder House a while back. I believe there is a dealer/distributor in the Northwest you can order from - yes, that would be Buffalo Arms Company, 208-263-6953, www.buffaloarms.com

Winter Hawk, thanks for the info. I'd really like to learn the ways of the Holy Black. I got a flintlock for the versatility, then found out it doesn't like the replacement stuff.
