Hello the camp! I am new to this forum.

All I may be missing something or I may be stirring the dreggs of the pot.

When I was kicking around the Northern Rockies as a kid I remember visiting a museum that had a pair of buckskin breeches that was found on land that was owned by Medina. Does anyone know the museum, or the item I am referring to? I remeber the museum was located in Western Wyoming, whether or not it was one of the tourist trap museums in Jackson's Hole I can not remeber.

Would anyone have a pic. of this piece of clothing?

Welcome MtnGummer, I remembered that Buck Conner wrote an article on them. Here is the link to it with a photo.

Thanks for the article.

Those are short pants but, unfortunately, they are not the pants I remeber. But youth and age remeber things differently.

I remeber Buck Conner's article.

The breeches I remember had ties at the knee and were not a private item, but a donated article. They were odd in that the color was a dark brown like what happens to leather in a bog over a period of time.

I may have to take a hardship trek to the Wind Rivers and Yellow Stone area and search for those breeches. With all luck i could get bewildered and not come home for a few months.

Thanks

I asked my resident expert on period clothing and textiles in general about this image. Observations:

She agrees with SacMtnMan that the man has on NO pants. Looking closely, you can see the fold at the top of the leggings. Granted, it's almost an optical illusion similar to seeing the "old hag/young woman" drawing.

Over garment appears to be of animal skin.

He is either wearing a red shirt, or has something around his neck held with a wide red ribbon.

My own observation shows 'no visible means of self defense.'
