I'll get it done or die trying. actually I'm having a ton of fun. spent 3 tedious hrs today fitting the breech plug. used some prussian blue to check the fit and it was only off 7 flats. I'm doing it by hand with a file so I've had it in and out about a hundred times. so far it is touching everywhere it is supose to and I only have a half a flat to go. might have this thing done and shootin by fall

Good for you, brother. Do you have someone more experienced you can get advice or a little direction from time to time? Just a thought.

well so far I have the breech plug fitted, tang inlett, lock inlett[but not the internals yet]. learning a lot about how to fix little uh-oh's. one trick I found on another site about filling in a small gap works great. you plane of some strips of wood and steam iron the curls and they stiffin up and lay straight. then glue em in. I sure needed that one on the tang. one thing I would definately do different next time is shorten the breech plug and breech to 1/2". mine was 5/8 and I just fitted it. sure would have helped move the lock back a tad, and yes I did move the barrel back further in the stock but 1/2" on the plug would have been much better and worth the effort. guess this old dog can learn a few new tricks after all

it's together and in the white. some tweaking to do. meeting tommorow with a new friend that has been building for several years to critique it. know I have made a few mistakes and some of them I'm leaving as a reminder of what not to do. she may not be pretty but she's all mine Smiler

Well said Jim. Ain't gotta make no ones heart beat but your own. Chances are most won't even see any of the "flaws" until you point them out. Bunch of fun putting them together ain't it!
