I have a hawken with a snell breech. My T/C nipple wrench will not fit down over the nipple. The wrench is too thick and hits the side of the snell towards the barrel. Any suggestions on how to remove nipple. Any wrenches out there made for snell breech? I was thinking maybe the ratchet wrench from Ted Cash might work. Any hlp would be much appreciated

I've run into that problem over the years too many times to count. The result is that I ended up with a drawer full of various nipple wrenches. Most will fit only one gun. Though I've never had any experience with the Ted Cash ratchet it more that likely would be worth a try. I've been considering buying one for myself. You could also look over the various wrenches from DGW, TOTW, etc.

I had that problem with a percussion shotgun. Snail was to close to the nipple to get a nipple wrench on it.
A friend of mine happened to have a lathe in his shop. We chucked up the nipple wrench, and took the diameter down to where it would fit.

Thanks for your input guys. I talked with the guns maker and he said he had the same problem while installing the nipple. He suggested taking the barrle off which would work but would be somewhat of a hassle every time I cleaned the rifle. I'll keep trying things and let you all know if I come up with the answer.

Re nipple wrench, Redwood, more than likely you will need to get you a nipple wrench that you can fit to make it fit the nipple, a person can reduce the diameter of the wrench with a file or a grinder. this is a common occurance, most of us have several wrenches ourselves. The wrenchs arnt very expensive. The biggest problem I have is when I get a wrench to fit a certain gun is remembering where I put the gol darned thing. Ha yours arkansawwind
