Jimbow,
The native population in the North Woods used the standard 24-gauge smooth-bore trade gun on anything that moved, including bear. 20 gauge ought to be fine with good shot placement. Good hunting.

FYI 100 grains of 2Fg is a little more than 3.5 drams..., so that's a plenty stout load for a 20.

Hiya Jimbow,

90grs ffg and a 60rb is good enough fer moose or blackies, but use what you are comfortable & accurate with. Wolfwoman took a 400lb blackie at 75ft with a 54rb/90grs ffg back in '92. Shot placement is the most important though.

Let us know efen ya get a critter.

Keep an eye to the ridgeline......'n' watch whar yor placing your feet around scat piles!
