sitting in my treestand waiting for a deer to come into bow range. Only problem was I hadn't seen a deer all morning. I'm watchin squirrels running around, chasing each other up and down trees, just making a big ruckus. I said to myself, self I said, you got your .32 flinter in the truck. Big Grin Out of the tree I come and back to the truck I go. I return to another part of the timber with flinter in hand. O.K. where's the limb bacon? I hear a couple off in the distance barking but nothing close. I do see a bunch of turkeys moving and scratching around in the woods. I sit and watch them for a while from some distance away so as not to spook them. I decide to move to another area and just let the big birds enjoy there morning undisturbed. Just as I'm about to get up I see a grey/tan object moving towards the turkeys. I look through the trees...hmm...what is it?..COYOTE! I plop back down to watch. The turkeys are all excited, sounding off their alarms, and some flying off to other destinations and some to the trees. I don't have any type of call with me so I put the ball of my thumb to my puckered lips and try (very badly) to make a noise of a distressed critter. Sort of a reversed kiss. Well it got the varmints attention and it started working it's way towards me. It kept stopping and trying to locate me. I have no cover. It's on an opposite hillside, just a couple of ditches between us. When the scoundrel went down into a ditch, I readied my .32, waiting for my target to reappear. Then there it was about 35-40 yards away searching for me. I placed my sights just behind it's front left shoulder. The cock is back, trigger is set...breath...CRACK. Ignition is instantanious. I see the coyote jump straight up and start running over the knoll and out of my sight. I listen to the leaves rustling around as it's running and then they stop. I reload and walk to where I last saw the animal. Good sign of a hit. I look off in the direction it ran and there it was not 40 yrds away, lying still. The .310 ball had past clean through the boiler room. The load was 20 gr. 3F .310 ball and .010 patch. Thanks for letting me ramble on. Best regards. Rockerhound

Good job I still dont know why fish and game does not let you hunt deer with anything smaller than a 45 cal again its all about shot placement

Great story and good shooting! That just goes to show how truly effective a prb can be. Your load was a squirrel load and relatively modest and still easily dropped that yodeler.
