Well, it took me a bit of doing but I finally figured out how to post a picture here!!

Anyway, this is a plump white tail doe I took with my trusty 45 caliber flintlock rifle back in mid November. She was approx. 40 yards out giving me a fine silhouette profile for a neck shot. I just love neck shots. Never have had to track them down. Been enjoying lots of good eats and great homemade jerky from this fine gift from above!

Nice.
Nice looking rifle, too. I like that style of patchbox.

Cranbrook, I have a fondness for short, handy rifles AND the .45 caliber. That rifle of yours is a joy to behold. What's the barrel length, mine is 36" which I consider pretty short? Got another one in .45 with a 25" barrel but it's a capgun.

Hanshi, barrel is 36" long.
About the rifle I used, it is one I built several years ago out of a fairly plain piece of hard maple. The wood has some curl but not a lot. The barrel was one that was given to me as a Christmas present from my gun building mentor who passed away 11 years ago. Sadly, he didn't live to see what I did with his gift. I also had a good friend who was an antique collector. We were attending a gun show together and he brought along this antique brass patch box that he wanted to show me. The box originally came off an old Pennsylvania rifle made in the Lehigh County area some 200+ years ago. I talked my good buddy out of that box and put it back where it belonged!

I don't know why it's so hard to post photos here but it sure frustrates me to no end. I've tried this many times and it's never worked for me. Test.

Lower left hand edge of the monitor; or if you got an Apple it'll be on the right right side about midways between the top and bottom corners.

I also think we would all benefit from more gun porn just in general.

Here's the doe I got last October in the "Early" season. I don't like "neck" shots myself as I always can't get them to set still long enough to hit that target. I do like shoulder shots, but this one was a standard broadside at 62 yards.

Yours sure is a pretty rifle, and self built too! Mine is a used kit-rifle from Cabin Creek Muzzleloading rifles, and it's .54

Don't feel bad guys, it took me an hour to shrink this photo down so it would load on this forum......
