I don't know how many of you knew who Doc Watson was but this giant of folk/mountain music has died. His signature song "Tennessee Stud" was written by Jimmy Driftwood (deceased). Jimmy Driftwood also wrote "The Battle of New Orleans".

Though I never had the honor of actually meeting Doc Watson, I did get to meet Jimmy Driftwood many years ago. Both these great men were incredible musicians. Driftwood owned many original and unusual stringed instruments and he could play them all. Somewhere there's a whole lot of picking and grinning starting up.

I did have the PLEASURE of seeing him twice, once in Dayton, Ohio and the other in Louisville, Ky.
Both times in a small bar setting. No doubt one of the best pickers ever!
