The top gun is an early Hawken flinter in .58-cal with a birdseye maple stock. The builder was Russell Greene.

The lower rifle is a Hawken Hybrid in .62-cal with fancy curley stock. I was told at the estate sale where I bought these the .62 has an original lock. I shoot the .58 often. The .62 is too nice a gun, so it sit's until I hanker to view a fine gun. I've only shot it a few times.

The story is the top gun was commissioned by a bear hunter in or about 1817 from Sam Hawken.
