This is my favorite rifle.
It was built by Loren "Doc" Brown.
A .54 Orion barrel with a 1-72 twist, lock by Ron Long and a walnut stock taken from a local tree that was hit by lightning.
Load is the same for hunting or range work.
80 grains of 2F, .15 patch with spit for lube, unless hunting, then bear grease and a .530 round ball. I aim just a shade under at 25 yards and a bit over at 75 plus. Kinda nice having one load, keeps things simple.

Oops.. I see I posted this in the wrong section if someone knows how, feel free to move to the firearms section, thanks

Andy, got your blog on this gun from your Ruxton site in my email last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks.

You are very welcome TurkeyCreek, glad you liked it.
Need to get on the ball and write more.
At the end of the month we have a rondezvous at our club and all 20 + guns and stuff from Ruxton will be there. Will be writing on that for sure...

That nose cap looks very familiar. Did the builder do a "youtube video" on this build by chance?

Excellent looking Hawken Rifle for sure! Smiler
