I have a new Queen's Bluff in stock.
It's a 16X16 next to biggest. Years ago I asked Chad to sew me a diamond with two front panels to close the front for more weather protection. Queen's bluff IS the easiest to set up given the square footage. stake out the back, run up a 8-foot pole, nail down the sides and front panels and you got a lodge. I like the little touches, the front weather panel to close the front, the half canvas floor to seal your sleeping area from moisture and spiders. Best buy in town. I have another 12X12 pyramid so this Queen's Bluff is excess. Contact me. Oracle |

My spike camp was always a 10X10 diammond till
I camped during a cold hard rain. The wind was swirling blowing rain in on my bed roll. I stacked my camp boxes up and hung a piece of canvas, this helped and I slept out the storm under my buff robe. I ordered the two front triangular panels and tied these in for full closure. |

I looked up the Queen's Bluff tent as I wasn't familiar with the style. Looks minimalist to me. Good for the serious r'vouer and short stays. For the record, I use an early Panther Primitives 12x12 pyramid. Only do longer 'vous and carry lotsa junk with me.

The QB tent does look like it would be pretty handy for a weekend. I called the folks at Red Hawk to ask how they were measuring the 15X15 size: along the canvas diagonal or along the side. The QB tent is basically a 15X15, 16X16 or 18X18 ft square tarp - no sewn inserts. For any size, the vertical pole up front will be 1/2 the quoted size - 8 foot for a 16X16' or 9 ft for an 18X18 ' tent. The door flaps and the half floor shown in the photos on RedHawk's website are created by folding the corners of the square tarp inward. Sounds like there may be a few extra loops and ties sewn on, compared to their diamond flys of corresponding dimensions. If I did my math right, for a 16X16 tent, you'd have 8' of headroom at the very front, and the distance along the ground from the back stake to the front pole would be about 13'8" (okay, actually a couple inches less because the sizes specified don't account for seaming losses).
I've an old Muzzle Blasts article from 2002 that shows three ways to set up a diamond fly - plow point style, Whelan style, and the third looks to be the same as the QB. I do a lot of one night camping where it's too much trouble to set up my wall tent, and the QB could be just the right compromise between weight, privacy, protection from bugs and the elements. the red hawk "queen's bluff tent " starts off as a square canvas , the design is very unique , it can be used as a fly or open end wedge , i have a 16x16 being made now ! it should make a great shelter for my lower creek hunting camp ! thanks to all for the great feedback !

My son, wife, and I weathered an all night thunder storm with torential rains in our 9'X12' wedge tent. The only thing that got wet was a small pillow that had a tassle that some how had gotten under the sod cloth and its fring poked out a little.
Load fast and aim slow. |

You folks crack me up.
I own and have camped in my 16X16 Queen's Bluff. For a spike camp it can't be beat. I set mine up in this recent snow, cold, in the back yard. I had a small sheet metal stove with the chimney pipe angled out side betweeen the weather flap and kept the tent toasty warm. I got 12-duck canvas which is watertight out of the box. Tips 16X16 is bigger than 16X16. The 18X18 is smaller because of seams and canvas size. 16X16 is the best buy. On your lift pole drive a spike (20-penny nail) through at the 8-ft level. Keeps your canvas from slipping. Use TWO tie down/wind lines for your liftpole. I use big spike nails with 2" washers for pegs. Headspace? enough to get dressed with privacy. I only sleep in mine and live outside, so don't need a marquis. I recommend this tent for most everyone. |

You guys have me talked into a QB tent--would be just the thing for weekenders when I don't want to lug the wedge tent. I used to just sleep outside in nice weather, but it seems every event lately around here has been wet.
