I borrowed this from another web cite, but felt
it would be welcome here.
----------------------------------------------
go to the Spanish food section of your grocery
store.

1 Lb bag of long grain rice
1 box Knorr Co. Caldo de Tomate con Sabor De Pollis (tomato with chicken boullion soup)
1 4oz bottle dried onions flakes
1 pack of beef jerky

In a bean boiler place enough water to make rice
and extra to rehydrate tomato and make soup.
Cut up jerky in nibble size
thrown in half a handful of dried onion.

one pound rice, Knorr soup, jerky and onion
will last four days.

If your a Spanish Rice lover you'll crave this.

My gut has a fine time with dried onions, churning out copious quantities of sulphur dioxide gas. Unfortunate, as I really like to use 'em in things, and my favorite dessert, the Mickey Dee double cheeseburger has quite a few on it.

A couple hours after, folks for three or four miles downwind deeply regret it though.

Your Sopa Seca de Arroz recipe sounds wonderful.

Yes Indeed, there are often extra benefits from dietary choices!! Eeker

Here is a bulk food source. You can find pretty good prices (compared to the DC Suburban area) on dried stuff, as well as additives for the home canners out there like ascorbic acid, etc.

Oracle,

I gave your recipe a try this weekend. I used a quarter of a cup of rice, one half of a bouillon cube, and a cup of water to make a meal for myself.
Cooked it in a metal cup over an Esbit stove (they don't allow an open fire in the woods where I ate the meal) Good stuff & easy to carry and prepare. Thanks!

Joe
