Does Mark Baker write and reenact and all that stuff as the primary source of his income? I'm just curious. I've seen some of his tapes and read some of his articles. Just curious.

I believe Mark used to teach English at the University of Utah...but I only heard that once and I like two different sources of info to be sure.

Teaching High school is just a notch or two up in intensity from teaching at a U.

Last I heard he was a teacher--so he needs the spare income from the other stuff! If you have not read it, find a copy (library) of his tome Sons of the Trackless Forest. Very good reference book for the market hunter/longhunter era. It was basically his Masters Thesis. The appendices alone are worth the price of the book. I think it his best work.

Mark is working on the second edition of "Sons of the Trackless Forrest". It will include new information and is being rewritten to be less of a thesis and more readable.

You mean the guy found MORE stuff to put into his tome? I found it fine reading, and chock full of cool stuff.

I tried to find "Sons of a Trackless Forest" to purchase, but it seems that it is out of print now.

Yeah, I met MB on the set of the "Last of the Mohicans" briefly. Nice guy. (Wrong though in Vol. I of Pilgrim's Journey...There were a lot more than 4 reenactors on the set.)

I got a chuckle out of that, Pathfinder. "'tis true, 'tis true 'tis pity, And pity 'tis 'tis true."

I teach literature to college-bound seniors but there are days when I imsgine teaching 4th or 5th grade in my dotage -- I'd simply read cool books to them all day (and, of course, lose my job shortly thereafter!)
