Tent Sliders or "Dog Bones"

Hey folks on another forum there was a comment that sliders on tent ropes, sometimes called "dog bones" are not HC.

Here is a watercolor by Sandy done in 1780, and the sliders are present. The best images are on the two ropes on the left by the barrels.

Sandy has some additional paintings and drawing with sliders, and they are tougher to find, but they are there as well. He also has some images with tent ropes but without sliders..., so they weren't always used.
