I had Scott Sibley make me a St. Louis powder horn and a few measures for me and my two sons. Here are a few pictures. I may go with a whole new set-up based on the horn, beginning with a .54 cal. Leman, calfskin bag or a tapestry twined bag and a finger woven strap for the horn.

Those measures are excellent. That horn is like nothing I've seen before.

There's not much information on these types of powder horns- only that they were made in the St. Louis area by a few guys from around 1800-1830. William Clark had one, along with James Audubon and Black Hawk.

A few are at the Museum of Westward Expansion, St. Louis Historical Society Museum and the National Museum of Denmark. Several are in private collections, along with a flat horn formerly in the Dressler collection.

Scott and I agreed on a horn similar to Audubon's along with his own ideas and is one of the last two he planned on making. The other was for himself.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

Very very nice horn. Scotts work is the best when it come to horns IMHO. I have 3 of his horns and would'nt take anything for them. One of these days I will get off my fat hiney and post some pics. Once again great looking horn and measures
